In August, 2022, I hiked the Three Sisters Loop. It is a ~50 mile loop which circumnavigates the Three Sisters, a trio of volcanoes which form the Cascade Crest in Central Oregon. It’s a fascinating landscape, marked by “recent” (1st century CE) volcanic activity, glacier fed creeks, and exposed burn scars.
Itinerary: I made a Caltopo Map of the route which includes places we camped, and reliable late season water sources.

Logistics: There are several different trailheads you can start/end this hike from. We chose Mirror Lakes TH just off of the Cascade Lakes highway, about 15 minutes west of Mt. Bachelor ski area.
Permits: To hike this area, you need to obtain a Central Cascades Wilderness Overnight Permit. This was really easy and we didn’t have any issues getting a permit.
